Herbs/Food interaction with HIV meds

Sep 9, 2018

ello!

I'm on Tivicay/Truvada treatment and I would like to know... Can Aronia (black chokeberry) juice and honey/pollen/propolis mix use interact and decrease level of these medications?

Can I affect my treatment using Aronia (black chokeberry) juice and honey/pollen/propolis?

Thank you in advance!

Response from Dr. Holodniy

There is very little data on use of Aronia or bee pollen and HIV meds together. The berries contain hundreds of compounds and some that are known have the potential to interact with HIV meds. I suggest you discuss this with your pharmacist.
