HCV PNR Quantitative

Apr 29, 2018

Hi I am a dialysis patient from eight months but today i did my HCV PNR test and it came positive with values 3678 iu/ml. So plz let me know is it dangerous stage and what should i do for this. Thanks

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You don't indicate whether you have had previous HCV viral load tests and what those results were. Usually patients on dialysis get fairly frequent HCV testing. Is this a new positive result? Were you tested before and results were negative? The result likely indicates chronic HCV infection with a very low HCV viral load. I suggest you discuss these results with your kidney doctor and consult with a liver specialist to determine whether HCV treatment is indicated at this time.
