Undetectable life expectancy

Dec 17, 2017

People often use the term undetectable these days. But I was hoping for clarity as to why life expectancy is still 10 years shorter than the normal life span with such small levels in people's blood. Thank you!

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Complex question and difficult to answer. It is probably related to background family history and underlying genetics, how young/old someone is when they are infected, low level inflammation related to residual virus, underlying medical conditions or other co-infections, among others.
