Syphilis titer 1:64 to 1:32

Dec 17, 2017

I had a rpr test and the titer was 1:64 and received treatment with 1 penicillin shot in butt cheek. 1 month later had another rpr test and my titer was 1:32. Can someone tell me what does this mean? Are the antibiotics working, do I need more treatment? Im I still contagious? Can someone please explain what may be going on?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You don't indicate what signs or symptoms of syphilis were found. One shot may be appropriate treatment. The RPR titer can remain positive for months to years after successful treatment. I suggest you discuss these issues with your doctor who treated you.
