Syphilus Titer 128 to 16 to 256

Nov 26, 2017

Diagnosed June 2016 128:1. Treated three weeks of penicillin shots and doxycycline pills. 16:1 test Feb 2017. Just tested in Nov and it jumped to 256:1. Only one partner and he has tested negative. Both of us have been treated with one shot and I am taking doxycycline pills again. I am assuming the original treatment was unsuccessful but also thought a drop from 128 to 16 should have confirmed success. I am confused and very worried. Any advice or opinions about my case?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You don't provide any clinical context for these test results. In general, the treatment received should be adequate for treating a case of syphilis. I suggest you discuss your case with an infectious disease specialist.
