Oct 22, 2017

Hello:For several years always undetectable with no Hiv Rna found: Now latest blood work shows viral load of 20. Started new non-hiv Meds in July : would any be contraindicated? Lasix 40mg daily/ Pravastatin 20mg daily/Potassium 20meqs daily/Pepcid 40mg/. MyHiv Meds are Descovy/Isentress. Thanks for your help!!

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Thank you for providing the additional medication list. Nothing on that list strikes me as significantly affecting the activity of your HIV meds. As a precaution, always check with your pharmacist though. Although you don't indicate what your current CD4 count and percent are, I am not concerned with this insignificant blip, particularly if your CD4 counts are stable. In general, the viral load will usually go back down to undetectable levels. We only become concerned when the viral load increases above 200 copies/mL or more and stays there.
