do I need more treatment?

Oct 22, 2017

I was diagnosed syphilis after rpr 1:2 and TPHA 1:160 about thee months ago. I was treated with Ceftriaxone 1g 4 IM and after one week same but IM, followed by Vibramycin (Doxycycline) 10 tabs. I have no idea how and when I got this infection. I tested again few days back (after three months) my test results are same. Do I need more treatment? or test? if yes what treatment do you recommend. thanks

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Benzathine penicillin IM is the recommended treatment, not ceftriaxone. Although you don't indicate the time interval between tests, the RPR and TPHA can remain positive for months to years after appropriate treatment.
