sore throat very low cd4 count
Jun 29, 2013

Hi I have just recently been diagnosed about 12 weeks ago. My first lab results showed that my CD4 count was at only 8 and my VL 710,243 , the doctors placed me on a three pill combination Truvada 200mg, Prezista 800 mg and Norvir 100 mg along with two different antibiotics azithromycin 600 mg , Sulfamethoxazole Tmp- DS. just had my second test done a week back which showed Cd4 count is at 60 and my VL is 279 , my question would be I'm currently experiencing a sore throat. With such low CD4 count showed us have some concerns about the opportunistic infection developing or are the meds I'm on good enough.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

A sore throat is a very nonspecific finding or complaint. I think if it persists, or there are other findings like fever or other symptoms, I would get it checked out.
