Is HIV virus can mask or interfere with syphilis result? Mar 10, 2013 Hi David, I been bothering by syphilis since 2009 and the figure is always like a yoyo. Last time I get tested the result came out with RPR 1:8 (2012 sept) and this time is back to 1:256 (2012 feb). My doctor said I get reinfected, however having not engage in sexual activity this is impossible. Can you explain somehow the HIV virus can mask or interfere with STD like syphilis result? And what would you suggest me to do? get another 3 times injection? or is any alternative treatments? Warm regards, |

 HIV will not interfere with this test result. Assuming treatment was given correctly before, retreatment should be considered. | ||||||||
