| CD4 Fluctuation Feb 3, 2013 I was diagnosed last August 2011 and started with a CD4 of 18, it then went up to 132 then to 124 then to 250 and now my recent is 222. My last Viral Load was 47 units/ml. I'm taking Combivir and Nevirapine as my meds. I recently had a pneumonia vaccine last month, could this be the reason why? Thanks |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
CD4 counts can fluctuate because of time of day, stress, after immunizations, different laboratories or assays, because of other ongoing medical conditions, among other reasons. The CD4 percent is usually a more stable number over time and should be followed as well. I suspect that there is no real difference between the 250 and 222 values as your CD4 percent likely did not change. | |||||||||
