About HIV vrial load and result
Nov 3, 2012

Goodmorning how are u dr liawaty i would like to ask u about viral load result. 3 month ago VL 956000copies/ml CD4 9%& CD8 11% ... in OCTOBER VL undetectable morethan 500 -1RNA copies/ML CD4 33.63% &CD8 50.93% WHAT SHOULD WE DO IN THIS CASE

Response from Dr. Holodniy

It appears the viral load was quite high and the CD4% was very low 3 months ago, but now the viral load in undetectable and the CD4% is 33%.It sounds like you started HIV treatment, where we would expect a response like that. If HIV treatment was not started, this could represent acute HIV infection, with a subsequent immune response to the virus.
