|Syphilis test result confusion
Oct 7, 2012
In April 2011 I had blood tests done for all STIs. All were negative, with the exception of HSVII which my partner and I both have. To further protect myself, I received the HPV vaccine series in 2011. In October 2012 I had STI tests done again and was told I had a reactive T Palladium IGG & IGM and RPR titer test result of 4 DILS. None of my former partners (for two years) have had positive tests including my current sex (we had unprotected sex for 5 months). I have had no (perceived) symptoms. I began a series of penicillin shots immediately. My current partner told me he had sex with other women during our time together, but always used a condom with others. How can I have a positive test, but my partner is negative?

I cannot answer the partner question, but the treatment given is appropriate for the test results obtained.
