| CD4 count !!? Jul 8, 2012 I believe to have been infected January 2012 and was diagnosed positive April 16. In May my cd4 count was 290 and in June had more labs and CD4 was 394. How did my Cd4 go up with no meds? I will start meds the beginning of August according to my doctor. |

You don't indicate what your HIV viral load is currently, or what the CD4% is. The CD4 count can fluctuate because of time of day, stress, other ongoing medical conditions, after immunizations, among other reasons. the CD4% is usually a more stable number over time and is a good number to also be following. In addition, if this truly was acute infection in January, HIV during acute infection can result in a significant decline in CD4 count which is somewhat self correcting after your immune system gets some control of the infection, after which you will see the CD4 increase. | |||||||||
