CD4 COUNT
Jun 3, 2012

I went to the doctors today to get my results, last time I had my labs was February, 6th and my Cd4 number was 414 % 26, prior to that December 12th they were CD4 431 and % 29. I started medication with 213 Cd4, Im on Isentress+prezista+norvir, my doctor asked me if I took my meds regularly and I honestly answered that I never skipped a dose. Im a bit worried, I started medication in Last July, I was undetectable 15 days after taking medication I thought that I should have at least 500 cd4 by now, any explanation to all that? Is the combo Ok? I dont drink, I dont smoke at all. I eat well, I do my walking everyday. Can you give some ideas, please. Thanks.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You have had a great response. We cannot predict what your CD4 count will increase to ultimately and there is no magic number of CD4 count that everyone needs to get to. The average increase is about 150 CD4 cells after a year, so you have exceeded that. Once you are undetectable, the CD4 count may continue to increase over years but at a very slow rate. Also, there is no real difference between those two CD4 counts or percent.
