| Understanding my CD4 count May 13, 2012 Dear Mark I am 23 weeks pregnant and HIV+; I did a lab test and the lymphocyte phenotyping report states: absolute CD4 counts/ul..... 305.0 N:470-1298 Mean 789 absolute CD8 counts/ul..... 1104.0 N:208-796 Mean 433 Average CD3................ 1442.0 N:688-1955 Mean 1206 CD4/CD8 T-Lymphocyte Ratio.... 0.28 N:0.92-3.41 mean 1.87 CD4/CD3 T-Lymphocyte Ratio.... 0.21 CD8/CD3 T-Lymphocyte Ratio.... 0.77 I started taking co-trimoxazole tablets BP 960mg today as i was infected with yeast. Kindly help me understand these results. many Thanks |

The normal CD4 count range is 500-1500 and CD4 percent is 30-50%. Your CD4 count is 305 and your CD4% is 21%. So your CD4 numbers are decreased from normal. Your CD8 count and percent is elevated, and that is a natural reaction to HIV infection. I assume you are also on HIV treatment. If not, you should be. | |||||||||
