confused about cd4 count and percentage
Feb 12, 2012

i am recently diagnosed. CD4: 710, CD8: 696, CD3:1532, CD4/CD8: 1.02, CD3%: 58.15, CD4%:26.94, CD8%:26.42. I am not on meds. how can cd4% be so low with count 710? Should i start taking duovir-N or viraday, because i am sometimes getting exposed to TB patients as occupational exposure. I am from asia thats why cant get access to other drugs except the two mentioned. Which one would you prefer between duovir-N and viraday? Both have same efficacy? Regards.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

In general, both would have the same efficacy. I would probably favor viraday over duovir-N. The decreased CD4% probably reflects some immune system damage, despite a normal CD4 count.
