Quick question - Cd4 count and Free T3 and T4 ?
Jan 8, 2012
Hi Dr, hope you are well. I have a quick question. I had a Thyroid function test and it tested for Free T3 and Free T4.
Is Free T3 and Free T4 the same as a Cd4 count? what's the difference? Because isnt Cd4 also known as T4?
I am a little confused. Thankyou. I am sending a donation as well :)
Response from Dr. Holodniy
No they are not the same. T3 and T4 measure thyroid hormone levels. CD4 is a term used to t helper lymphocyte cell counts. Yes, sometimes CD4 cells are referred to T4 cells. But the results of thyroid hormone test (T4) will be in a concentration and CD4 count gives you the number of cells. So there should be no confusion.
