blip due to poppers? Dec 4, 2011 I am on Atripla and undetectable for the past 2 years. My last VL test came back 55 instead of <20. My doctor said it's a blip and not to worry about. I don't ever miss a dose but I sniffed poppers a few times the week of blood analysis. Would poppers stimulate this marginal burst in VL? Thanks you for your opinion. |

 First, I agree with your doctor. Although I am not aware of specific data on the use of poppers and acute increases in viral load, there is a large body of literature suggesting that these nitrates can affect the immune system and alter various immune cell signaling and function. | ||||||||
