| Recent Lab Results for HIV+ Patient Nov 13, 2011 Hello. I recently received my lab results in the mail, and have been unable to reach my doctor to discuss. The results all appear WNL excelpt for the following: ABS. CD 8 SUPPRESSOR = 1055 (HIGH) %CD 8 POS. LYMPH. = 42.2 (HIGH) CD4/CD8 RATIO = 0.77 (LOW) NEUTROPHILS = 25 (LOW) LYMPHS = 62 (HIGH) NEUTROPHILS (ABSOLUTE) = 1.0 (LOW) Is there any cause for concern regarding any of these results? I have been positive for over 10 years and have been doing well on my treatment regimen. Thank you in advance for your professional assistance. |

It's hard to interpret these results without knowing the trend over time. In general, people with HIV infection will have an elevated CD8 count and percent, as a reaction to the infection. Probably most concerning is your neutrophil count of 1000. Has this been low before? Although it is not at a dangerously low level, it is approaching a level where we begin to get concerned about the ability to control various kinds of infections. | |||||||||
