| HCV Nov 13, 2011 Iam 66 years old. Diabetic and HBP. Three years ago I was diagnosed with HCV. I also suffer of clinical depresion. My liver enzimes are lare not so high. My viral load is 2,3000,000. Doctors recommended me not take the regular treatment because of my depressive condition. Do Iam a can-to treatment. Please help me, Iam afraid and confused. |

One of the medications used to treat HCV infection (interferon) can unmask or make worse depression in those that currently have the diagnosis. So many doctors are reluctant to use this medication in people with depression. The decision to treat HCV infection should involve an evaluation of the extent of liver disease associated with HCV infection, and that could outweigh not treating, if the depression can be controlled with medication. | |||||||||
