As I have mentioned my Doctor is refusing to put me on a statin such as lipator he's saying take fish oil and low fat diet. I don't agree with this I would very much like your opinion I am 40 years old and have been positive for about 20 years.

Those recommendations are usually the first approach to lowering lipids. However, if that doesn't work in a few months, you could consider staying on that regimen and adding a statin and/or a fibrate, or changing your regimen to a more lipid friendly one.
