| undetectable VL but CD4 keep droping Aug 7, 2011 Hi, I started treatment with Truvada/isentress for 3 weeks, had to change it for Prezista/norvir/truvada, because apparently was destroying my muscles and about to intoxicate my kidneys, although i really didn't feel anything. Anyway after 1 and a half months of treatments, my cd4 raised from 230 to 330, and my VL dropped from 140.000 to 550, i was so happy for such a huge improvement. However 3 months later my VL is undetectable but my CD4 has dropped back to 280... next check is in about a month, i have been >99% compliant, so i dont think this is about resistance, should i be afraid for the next forthcoming tests?? |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
I would not be concerned. It is important to have gotten your viral load undetectable. Your CD4 count will be bouncing around a bit. The CD4 count can vary because of time of day, stress, immunizations, other ongoing infections, among other reasons. I would be curious to know your CD4% which is usually a more stable number over time. I suspect that your CD4% has not declined. | |||||||||
