| Viral flu Jun 19, 2011 Dear Sir, I am aware about the incubation period of viral flu but when is it possible to get a fair picture ,in the Complete Blood Count ,of having contracted this seasonal infection from somebody? Thanks, |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
There can be reductions in white blood cell count with influenza infection, but this would never be a good proxy for the diagnosis of influenza infection and requires specific viral testing, as the finding of decreased white blood cells is too nonspecific. | |||||||||
