What meds should I take with Tamaxofin Jun 5, 2011 Im finishing up chemotherapy (Herceptin after doing chemo and radiation) for breast cancer and will be on Tamaxofin for 5 years. I have been on Viracept for 10 years and I have low blood counts. Need to change meds and wonder if you have any suggestions. Can't find any info on Tamaxofin & HIV meds. |

 There should be no absolute contraindications for most HIV meds. Tamoxifen is metabolized in the liver by liver enzymes. First, to convert it into it's active form, and second, to remove it from the system. The former enzyme is not affected by most HIV meds and the latter is. Your HIV doc and/or HIV pharmacist will know which drug combinations will be the most effective and with the least side effects. | ||||||||
