|Smoking and HIV

Thank you for responding to my previous questions. When I was diagnosed in October, I quit smoking by using the patch. I have been off the patch completely since January, yet over the past few weeks I have experienced very strong cravings. I need to know if you feel that smoking one or two cigarettes a day will lower T-cells or lessen the effect of my HIV medications.

I can't specifically answer the question about CD4 cells and cigarettes. But, as far as I am concerned even one or two cigarettes a day would not be a good thing. So, you need to work on the cravings without restarting the cigarettes.
