Aids vs hiv
Mar 6, 2011

My understanding is that once an Aids diagnosis is confirmed, it never changes back to just HIV for more formal disability related definitions even if cd4 increases above 200? You seemed to suggest something different in a posting on 2/26/11?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

That's correct. If you are speaking about the biology of the disease and not about insurance, disability, etc, then people who started with a CD4 count < 200 and now have a much higher CD4 count as a result of HIV treatment, are no longer at risk for AIDS defining illnesses.
