Inhibition/Enzymes Feb 6, 2011 Dear Dr H, Thanks very much foe your helpful answers to previous questions. I am on a reverse transcriptase inhibitor (truvada) and integrase inhibitor. My question is, do these two naturally occurring enzymes have any positive effects for the body? Does inhibiting them cause any metabolic problems that we know of and if so what are they? |

 These are virus specific enzymes that the virus carries with it, so no, they have no specific function in humans and inhibiting them is very specific and does not cause any problems, except for some toxicities that are unrelated to the inhibition of those enzymes. | ||||||||
