Hep B Surface Ab
Sep 26, 2010

My daughter 23 was infected perhaps 4 years ago with this. In a recent lab test her test result here was 4.07, and stating anything over .99 is "consistent with immunity". I read this as she has the antibody present, (no symptoms)she reads it as she has Hep B or that it she can still pass this along, and it will affect her later in life. I say, if she stays away from a compromising lifestyle, she'll be fine for life. How can I placate her concerns, and that she is "OK"?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

This test alone cannot determine her status. She needs to discuss this with a liver specialist.
