I HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 26 YEARS

Jul 11, 2010

I HADE A UPPER RESPITORY INFECTION AND MY DR, WANTED TO DO A AIDS TEST HE IS STATING THAT IT CAME BACK POSITIVE. I AM REALY CONFUSED BOTH MY HISBAND AND I HAVE NOT BEEN WITH ANYONE ELSE FOR 26 YEARS. HOW COULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN? COULD THIS INITAL TEST BE WRONG

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You don't indicate what kind of HIV test was performed or why the test was ordered in the first place. If a screening HIV test is performed and found positive, then a confirmatory test like a HIV-1 western blot test must be performed to confirm whether the screening test was a true positive.
