sudden drop in CD4 count
Jul 3, 2010

I am worried about decline CD4. From 830 in Feb to 370 in June. Percentage slightly lower: from 36% last time to 33%. Started taking Atripla one and a half year ago. Viral load undetactable last time. Still waiting for vl results. Take medicine always on time. Could a recent bad cold have this effect? Could depression have this effect? Is such a fluctuation normal?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

That reduction in CD4 count seems out of proportion to an insignificant CD4% decline. It is likely not to be clinically significant in the long term, given the previous undetectable viral loads, unless the current viral load has somehow shot up for some reason which seems unlikely.
