| WB positive PCR Negative Jul 3, 2010 Hello doctor, Im only 23 years old, and I went to the clinic just for a flu, where they let me know about my status with an ELISA test. I went to a second lab for another ELISA test, and this one was positive too. The lab technician is a friend of mine who adviced me to take the Western-Blot and PCR tests to make sure about my status. 3 days later they called me from the molecular laboratory to tell me that my Western-blot test came out positive, but my PCR was totally negative. They asked me about my sexual life, where I told them I used protection ALL THE TIME, but, I had one couple where we didn't use protection and he recently took the test too, and he is negative. I just took the CD4 and CD8 count test. The results will be in tomorrow. Do I have to think on a false positive? I DO REALLY NEED HELP! |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
This is very unlikely to be a false positive, given repeated positive EIA tests and a positive confirmatory western blot. | |||
