MONO TEST POS
Apr 29, 2001

Dr ive been neg twice at 8 weeks and 13 weeks but still have symptoms after 11 weeks of exposure. Ive had a mono test which is pos. My Dr said its a test that says you have a virus but we dont know what one. Can mono be related to HIV as ive heard you get a mono like illness

Thanks for reading this DR

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Mono is caused either by EBV or CMV virus. They are not related to HIV at all. They can produce symptoms during acute infection that resemble HIV though. There should not be any confusion regarding testing for these different viruses.
