start treatment
Apr 25, 2010

hello doctor I start my treatment with CD4 and viral load -269-14000, Epzicom and efavirenz start with my doctor consultations are as follows: 1. as% of patients develop lipoatrophy or lipodystrophy with this treatment? 2. recover my normal weight and appearance? 3. How soon can I be with this treatment if my membership is 100%

Response from Dr. Holodniy

A small percentage of people can develop lipid problems with this treatment. Although you don't indicate what your current weight is, yes it is likely once the virus is under control, you will get weight back. I am not sure what your third question is. Assuming you are asking about response to treatment assuming 100% adherence, you will likely see your viral load become undetectable in about 3 -6 months and your CD count increase significantly.
