| taking steroids when I am hiv Feb 28, 2010 Hello, I am a 44 years old man living with hiv. I just found out a few months ago. I went to the doctors because i was losing so much weight. I found out I have hiv and my tcells are 300 now. I have lost about 40lbs and I am 6ft, 155 now from 195. I asked him about going on steroids to help me gain weight and increase my energy. He told me no and that he only gives that when you are wasting. My question is will it hurt if I take steroids for a few months to get some weight back on? I look like a stick and im worried if I get sick then i will be in the hospital soon. |

I agree with your doctor. Stick to HIV treatment to control the infection and get your weight back. | ||||||||||
