HIV and boils
Jan 3, 2010

I have been undetectable for many years after an initial diagnosis of AIDS in 1995. I am healthy and take care of myself. Recently, over the holidays, I ran myself into the ground physically and am feeling weak and tired and I also have a couple of boils that have appeared. Is this a reaction to the HIV infection or just a result from being overly tired?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Likely neither. It is most likely the result of a bacterial infection that you got as a result of contact with something or someone. In some cases a culture is taken to determine what bacteria might be causing this and antibiotics may be prescribed depending on the circumstances.
