CD 4 count
Dec 20, 2009

I have been tested positive with HIV 5 years ago and i am not on medication , my last CD4 count is 1350 and VL 20 , i never had less then 1000 on CD4 count but my VL is going low from 84 i am now 20 , how long before my CD4 count get low or the virus get high ?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Hard to say. Although you don't indicate what your counts have been for the last 5 years, I suspect your CD4 counts were stable and in the normal range and your viral loads have been very low. If that has been the case, your immune system is doing a great job in controlling the HIV infection on its own and might continue to do so for several years without treatment.
