Undetectable Viral Load with Low CD4 count and %
Nov 22, 2009
I have been on a combination of 5 different anti virals for a year and have had my viral load go to < 50 but my CD4 count continues to stay in the 250 range with my percentage in the 14% range. Wouldn't I expect to see an increase of my CD4 count and % after a year on this new treatment?
Response from Dr. Holodniy
YOu don't indicate what your CD4 count/percent was before starting this treatment regimen. So it is difficult for me to determine if you have had no response or a minimal increase in CD4 count over that year's time. In some cases, it takes longer than a year to see CD4 increases. The good news is that your viral load remains undetectable preventing any further damage to your immune system.
