| neurosyphilis or tertiary syphilis and testing Nov 14, 2009 hello, is neurosyphilis only detected through a test by taking the spinal fluid? Or are the tppa and fta abs test accurate in detecting this stage of the disease.if so what is the accuracy. same questions with tertiary syphilis or late syphilis, is the fta abs and the tppa accurate in those stages of syphilis, if so, how accurate?. please answer my 2 question. thank you. i will check back on saturday as i see you answer questions every week, thanks a bunch doctor!!! |

Yes, for the most part, neurosyphilis is detected by doing syphilis tests on spinal fluid. You cannot make a definitive diagnosis from just blood tests. Late latent syphilis without neurosyphilis can be diagnosed with blood tests. The tests are quite accurate. | ||||||||||
