| about hiv patients Oct 4, 2009 both huspand and wife are hiv pos. patients. For both the cd4 count is below 200. They are much worried about their survival and they are uneducated taking treatment from a government hospital. Is there anything wrong in having contact with them? They have an adopted son also aged 2yrs with them. Will there be any problem for that child too? How should they behave with others in this situation? What should they do to increase their cd4 count? With an aim of helping them I am asking these questions. Please reply. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
If HIV treatment is available, they both need to start HIV medications and that will increase their CD4 count. There is no problem with the child living with them. They will need to decide if it is better to disclose or not disclose their HIV status. | ||||||||||
