| Pilonidal cyst/sinus Sep 26, 2009 My doctor diagnosed me as having pilonidal cyst (a small lump near the rectum). He did a minor surgery and is now cleaning up the pus. Problem is that it has been more than two weeks now--one day there is pus, one day no pus. I am on combivir and efiverenz (last CD4 count was fifty something and viral load 35k, this was about two months ago; i don't know the present count). Am worried that the CD4 count is getting lower due to the presence of pus off and on. Any ideas? thanks, a bit stress. Thank you for your good work. |

Yes, your CD4 count is quite low and may be contributing to a lack of healing. It is good you are on HIV medications. These cysts can be very problematic and may require additional surgery and drainage to solve the problem, in addition to antibiotics. | ||||||||||
