Estimated time for a cure
May 23, 2009
With the actual knowledge and technology how long it will take in your opinion to find something very potent against HIV? Is there hope of a therapeutic vaccine that keeps the virus under control with meds in the next 10 years? Any thoughts about the estimated time for this to be reality? Is there reason to be optimistic considering the research in gene therapies, monoclonal antibodies and drugs designed to increase immune activity?
Response from Dr. Holodniy
I think there is always reason to remain optimistic. I am not certain we will see a break through that leads to a cure in the next 10 years though.
