Depends on what you are trying to detect and when in the course of HIV infection. P24 antigen is likely only to be detected in very early HIV infection or at very late stages of AIDS. PCR testing which looks for the viral RNA in blood can be detected in most people throughout infection. P24 antigen testing is a simpler, cheaper, and faster test, but is not very useful. | ||||||||||
