| Atripla... May 3, 2009 I have been on meds for a number of years now, but changed from combivir and efarinez to atripla 5 months ago for 2 reasons, 1 convienience but the 2nd being that for 3 years on my old treatment i got really bad IBS resulting in stomach/gut pain and loose stools - after all the tests possible it was put down to the combivir. Since changing 5 months ago my IBS symptoms all but disappeared, and although i put on 10 lbs since the past week it seems my IBS issues came back! I had a stomach bug last week that caused diarreah and a bad gut, and now a week later i still have loose stools (not as bad but not fully back to normal) and my gut still aches - can my IBS be back? I am worried as before my quality of life was poor as the IBS took over, since changing meds i have never been happier and been out more and happy in myself - now i think if my IBS is back with these meds after 5 months i will be back to square one - advice pls... |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
I don't think the atripla triggered anything here, but I suppose it is always possible. I assume you have consulted with a gastroenterologist about this, and if not you should. I would also be concerned that if your IBS is back whether you are absorbing the atripla effectively, depending on how much diarrhea or GI symptoms you are having. | ||||||||||
