|do you think these numbers are good?
Apr 5, 2009
I have been on Atripla since November 08. My lab results are
Oct 14 CD4 99 VL 600000 CD4/CD8 0,04
Dec 12 CD4 154 VL 1800 CD4/CD8 0,08
Feb 11 CD4 184 VL 1900 CD4/CD8 0,12
Mar 31 CD4 143 VL <450 CD4/CD8 0,15
I am happy that finally I am "undetectable", but the fall in CD4 worries me. Do you think this is an unfounded worry? I know my CD4/CD8 rate has been improving steadily so probably I am OK for now, but I really need your opinion on this. Thank you!

I think you have had a fabulous response. If you have access to the CD4% test that would also be a useful and more stable number over time to track. The absolute CD4 count can vary. A more sensitive HIV viral load test would also be helpful. That is one that has a lower limit of detection of 40 or 50 copies/mL, which is a better long term predictor of treatment response. Because if you still have a detectable viral load between 50 to 450 copies/mL you might need a treatment adjustment and the viral load test result you are getting wouldn't be able to see that.
