cd4 counts and undectable viral load
Mar 22, 2009

hi, i have been on meds for 4years, before taking meds my cd4 count was on average 500/600 with a realativly low viral load , since being on meds my cd4 count has dropped to around the 250 mark ......and my viral load is undectable , my doctor say s this is ok , but friends at different clinic and doctors disagree completely, and say thats not right at all ,please help .

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Hmmm... I don't think that's OK. However, you don't indicate what your CD4 percent is and whether it dropped significantly as well. I would also want to know whether your total white blood cell count (WBC) and total lymphocyte count dropped as well. If these counts dropped but your CD4 percent stayed the same, then the absolute CD4 count drop may not be as significant. Other meds or medical conditions could be contributing to this count drop.
