Just a cold
Mar 1, 2009

I found out a week ago that I'm hiv+ and started imediately on haart: reyataz+combivir+norvir+tagremin(Co-trimoxazole 480). I have a CD4 count of 57 and a VL of 260 000.I have not OI yet, but a over a week-long cold. Should I be worried of getting PCP, or should the tagremin prevent that?Or if it's just a cold, can I take some Paracetamol for it?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Likely a cold, but given your very low CD4 count, I would be very sensitive to any kinds of symptoms you might have. You have very little margin for error. That said, because you started HAART, you CD4 count should be up fairly soon and you would be out of the woods regarding OIs.
