|Children & CD4 percentage
Feb 22, 2009
We have adopted a boy which tested HIV positive. He is now 3 years and 6 months. His CD4 was 410 and VL 13570 in Oct 2008. In Febr 2009 his CD4 is 719 and VL 35305. I don't know if the CD percentage is important but the dr did not give it to me. Do we need to know the % and do you think ARV-time?

In very young children the CD4% may be a better marker to follow. At 4 years, it is reasonable to have both the absolute count and CD4% to follow over time.
