Viral Load Decrease

Jan 31, 2009

Doc..after 3 months of interferon and ribovarin treatment for Hep C. My Viral load has gone from 6 million to five hundred and ninety. Is this considered a good sign or should it be zero by now? Will this cure the Hep C or will I have this forever? Thank you.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Excellent response and a very good sign. If the viral load becomes undetectable and you have what is called a sustained virologic response (SVR) after treatment stops, then you have a very good chance of controlling or getting rid of the virus.
