conversion Jan 25, 2009 I'm a GI nurse working for a physician that treats Hep C. Recently we sent a pt for HCV RNA (quantitative). I'm used to seeing results done by PCR. This particular pt had QN, TMA. Results >7500 IU/ml and >3.88 log IU/ml. Is there a way to convert this to how PCR results would be? Or to copies/ml? Thank you. |

 Although the IU are roughly the same between PCR and TMA, this particular result is above the upper limit of detection and therefore not quantifiable. So you don't know how high above this level you actually are. The TMA assay has a lower dynamic range and is usually used as a sometimes more sensitive measure for HCV treatment response. | ||||||||
