Hospital Release
Jan 18, 2009

My friend whose CD4 last count was 86 is being released from the hospital today after 2 week stay.

He was hospitalzed from OIs: Crypto Parasite, CMV, KS in esophagus, some dementia and wasting.

He gained 18lbs in hospital and his diarrhea which he had for 4 months has slowed down.

We don't know his cell count, and am concerned.

Is this a safe release or is it a "insurance not covering anymore" release?

What should his family and friends look out for once he is released?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

This is a complex case and hard for me to determine what actually transpired during the admission. However, it is very conceivable that he has received appropriate treatment for all these HIV associated complications and is stable enough for discharge.
